USA Visa from Pakistan
Quick answer
Pakistani applicants apply for the US B1/B2 visitor visa by completing the free DS-160, paying the US$185 fee at a designated bank through the official CGI appointment site, and attending an interview in Islamabad or Karachi. The decision is made at the interview. Interview waits can run to many months, so apply early and prepare honestly.

- A specific, genuine purpose for the trip: a family visit, wedding, graduation, conference or medical treatment.

In-person interviews and appointment pauses
Since August 2025 nearly all nonimmigrant visa applicants in Pakistan need an in-person interview, and visa appointments were paused for several days in March 2026 for security reasons. If that happens you are emailed rescheduling instructions, so use your own email address and check it, including spam.
Strengthen your application.
- Use only the official Pakistan appointment site and the free DS-160. Nobody can sell you an appointment or an approval.
- Don't carry a phone, smart watch or other electronics to the interview. There is no storage, so arrange where they will stay before the day.
- Rehearse short, true answers about your trip, funding and ties to Pakistan. Memorised agent scripts are easy for officers to recognise.
Common rejection reasons.
- Failing to show strong ties to Pakistan, the most common reason for a Section 214(b) refusal.
- Answers that don't match the DS-160 or the documents, or a story that sounds scripted.
- Bank statements or documents that look arranged for the visa, including large unexplained deposits.
Transparent pricing.
Embassy charges are paid directly to the consulate. Visaroo's service fees cover preparation, review and submission.

Honest guidance

Common questions, answered.
The officer decides at the interview, and an approved passport is then returned by courier. The bigger variable is how long you wait for an interview slot, which has run to many months in Pakistan. Check the State Department's wait-time page, and book as soon as your fee payment shows on the appointment site.
It depends on your profile: your work or business, income, family ties, travel history and how clearly your application tells the truth. We don't quote success rates, because every case is different. During the free eligibility check we tell you honestly where you stand and what to fix before you apply.
Almost always. Since August 2025 nearly all nonimmigrant visa applicants in Pakistan, including children and older applicants, need an in-person interview. A narrow waiver exists for some people renewing a B visa within 12 months of expiry. We run a mock interview as part of our service.
At the US Embassy in Islamabad and the US Consulate General in Karachi. The Consulate General in Lahore does not process visas. Scheduling, fee collection and document delivery are handled through the official appointment site run by CGI.
The visa application fee is US$185, paid at a designated bank using instructions from your account on the official appointment site. The State Department lists no extra visa issuance fee for Pakistani B1/B2 visas. A US$250 Visa Integrity Fee created by US law is meant to be collected at issuance, and its rollout is still being clarified, so confirm the current position on official pages.
There is no official minimum. What matters is that your income and savings are real, match your job, and comfortably cover the whole trip. Large deposits just before applying raise questions, so let the account age naturally and be ready to explain every unusual transfer.
Yes. We start by reading the refusal letter to understand the exact reason, then rebuild the application around it. We'll also tell you honestly if reapplying now isn't worthwhile and what would need to change first.
US entry restrictions have changed several times since 2025. At the time of writing, the restrictions we found did not list Pakistan for visitor (B) visas, but these lists change. We check the current position before you pay for anything.
